Eyes Open……

How many times am I going to open a closed door, and realize my own words,

ā€œI AM MORE THAN WHAT THEY SEE.ā€

I had stopped working on this post, because I couldn’t go past the words I typed, the words I thought, and the words I said out loud ā€œI AM MORE THAN WHAT THEY SEEā€.  I thought I should add to this. Two days later I am at work, listening to my gospel music, and really starting paying attention to the words.

I’ve heard this song countless times, danced to it, and listened to it in the  background sound as I moved about my day. But, yesterday it had me in tears. Kirk Franklin’s ā€œSmileā€ https://youtu.be/Z8SPwT3nQZ8?si=hqRGNGMaj3vf8lPV

I had to stop and think, am I going back to punishing the herd to be seen and playing follow the leader or am I going to put myself first.

**sidenote : Last Sunday I offered one person a ride to service, because I can have 1 person ride free with me. She asked if another person could ride with us, ā€œno, because I don’t have extra tickets. I only work two days a week and can barely get bus tickets for myself. (Also the first thought that came to my mind was. This same person got a ride home from service, but left me there and you want me to offer her a ride?) I realized I reached out almost begging someone to be my friend.

Then I realized  something else, I was going to have to stop going to my Church group, because they have upped the dues and I’m not going to put myself out to try and be in a group that really doesn’t see me….

Eyes open and holding a Smile. I know my self worth and it’s time I show it, not to people, but to myself.

A New Look at Fruits Basket

I gave up looking for a new anime to watch and started rewatching some of my favorites. I watched ā€œFruits Basketā€ , a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Natsuki Takaya. It is also a shōjo manga magazine.  I started watching this series with different eyes and saw each character  in a new light.

Tohru Honda is trying to live her life the best she can, but she is holding onto a promise to her late mother that no mother wants to be kept. She thought that she should only love her mother and live her life through her mother’s words. A parent only wants the best for their child and as a child they should remember their parents with all their love and kindness they shared together.

Tohru Honda  is a kind and caring person and people will always turn to that light. She had to be true to herself in order to really be loved in the end.

Kyo Sohma was never shown any love as a child and grew up with so much hatred.  There were a few who treated him like a person, but he still felt like an outsider. He was kept outside of the family he always wanted, but it was Tohru Honda who actually taught him what love was.

The whole Sohma family all wanted love and to be loved, but going about it in a different way. They shared an invisible bond that should have never been made. The head of the family  Akito Sohma wasn’t given a choice to be herself, so she took her frustration out on others, especially the girls. She was beyond jealous, because she was forced to live her life as a boy.

This family has secrets not just with outsiders, but from each other. Each member fought to be themselves and to be free of their family bond. The adults just accepted it, but Izuka and Tohra wanted that bond to be broken. They knew in order for everyone to be truly loved they would have to be free.

Yuki Sohma was seen as the luckiest person in the family, because Akito paid attention to him the most. They didn’t know how much he was being put down with so many negative words that it would have broken anyone’s spirit.

I believe everyone was looking at the world through  Tohru Honda’s eyes. She was kind and thought everyone should feel the same.  We all laugh, cry, feel pain, but most of all. We all want to be free to love and be loved.

This is my take on Fruits Basket…
