Thanks IV the Yarn

Last night at a crochet/knitting/creative group meeting someone said something and  her words stayed with me. She said, “I’m tired of this sweater, but I don’t want to put it down.” (She found some yarn she had bought months ago and started knitting a sweater. She knew she wouldn’t finish the sweater if she stopped working on it now, so she kept working on it).

If I am not actually working on a project for someone, I would move from one project to another, because I get bored with the same colors. I have put a project in a bag and it could be a month or longer before I think about it again.

There is a saying, “Out of sight – Out of mind,” and I believe it. I am done with that frame of mind. I finally got my yarn in somewhat order and realized I have a lot of granny squares. When I am done with a project. I use to just make granny squares out of the scrap yarn because

  1. I enjoy crocheting granny squares.
  2. I wanted to use the yarn I spent my time and money on.
  3. It’s a waste to have yarn in a bag and take up space.

I finally finished my pink project, which is a prayer cloth, which is a small blanket that covers my knees when I am at service. I  don’t wear my skirts or dresses too short, but when you sit down it will rise and this blanket will take care of that.

I’m not fond of the color green, but someone gave  me some yarn. When I was done with my pink project, I placed the leftover yarn in the bag, and I realized that green yarn looked good next to the pink yarn.

I realized I am only working on the brown throw blanket, (because someone had given me a multi-colored yarn and the brown matched that yarn perfectly) when I am crocheting once a month with friends at a local yarn shop.

Once again I was blessed with some free yarn. I was surprised it was six Caron one pound of dark grey yarn. I was thinking what can I do with this yarn? My first thought was to add light grey and pink, because I used to wear those colors back in my school days.

Then I thought about my son and an off white, red, light, and dark grey blanket might be nice? As I was writing (typing) I was thinking about those granny squares. Now I know what I am going to do. Well, only time will tell, because I am going to finish the two projects I have now before starting another one….

Side note : I will leave the pattern I used for each blanket and the creator I learned it from. The Pink, Cream, and Lime Green blanket I used the same yarn. The Multicolored yarn RIOS/Malabrigo https://charlotteyarn.com/ The light brown was a gift, so is unknown.

About a Hat…

Photo by Alena Evseenko on Pexels.com

I had a plan to work, but my tummy is louder than my thoughts. I am trying to push it aside, but what can you do? I ate a good amount of food last night. I really shouldn’t be hungry.

Today I really wanted to throw my alarm across the room, because I am off today. There isn’t a good enough reason for me to be up at 5am. I couldn’t get my mind to stop thinking so my eyes could close again. My body is tired, but now everything is listening to my stomach.

Okay, it didn’t take long to put some sweet potatoes in the oven, play my favorite online game (township) and rework my day. I really dislike when my plan doesn’t go as I thought it should. I read somewhere or was it in a movie? It doesn’t matter, but this thought came to me “always have more than one plan, just in case you need a back-up,” and that is true.

All is good, a light breakfast, a good cup of coffee, and it’s time to start my day. It doesn’t matter if you get a late start, just as long as you get started, and that’s all that matters.

I have been trying to learn how to crochet a hat for years. I cannot count the times I have started and then put it aside, because it wasn’t coming out right. I watched videos, used different yarns, and followed directions. Today is the day I learn how to make a crochet hat.

Gotta Frog Again….

Photo by Anete Lusina on Pexels.com

I can’t believe I am frogging another blanket (oh, frogging is taking the yarn out of a blanket that’s already made). I went to Michael’s to get some more red yarn, but they didn’t have the color I needed. A.K.A the reason why I am frogging another project.

I may not be able to get this blanket bigger before Christmas, but it will be a throw big enough for someone who stands over 6ft tall. I can always add onto it if I can’t give this gift in a different size, but only time will tell.

Not Again

Not ready to put away my granny square blanket. I have a color pattern already in my head and a smile thinking about how it’s going to look.

I got up to get a cup of tea. I just laid my project down and now my needle is gone.

I will stay calm. I will enjoy my green tea as I listen to the rain, and then I will start crocheting once again.

A Lazy Day Crocheting …

Photo by Ksenia Chernaya on Pexels.com

A lazy day crocheting. I thought I was going to get some new color yarn, but Walmart  was a let down. I am not going to give up on finding more yarn at another store or even online.

I found this red heart yarn. I was just looking at the colors. It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed it was, “The granny all in one square.” It is a good thing I wasn’t planning on doing granny squares, because it wasn’t going to work anway.

I didn’t know how I was going to reuse the dark grey yarn after taking it from a different project. The grey was too dark, with the light pink, but I believe these new colors will blind together much better. The sun is still out and I am still enjoying my day off. Time to get back to my new grey project. I am still thinking about adding a little more black in it, so it won’t be so light. Only time will tell about that add on.
