I started watching videos and learning about different states across America. I found new places I would like to visit in reality one day. My next stop is Mississippi. I hope I find something interesting……

Madison Mississippi caught my attention. I thought I would click on a video or two, then look up some more info online, because I was hoping to see something new.

The few up to date videos were about where to and where not to live, and that lost my attention all together. So, I am going to start looking elsewhere, because I am sure there will be something to see and do in Madison Mississippi.

There were only 4 things listed and only 1 caught my attention, ‘Sugar Magnolias Gifts & Boutique/Art Gallery,’ but I couldn’t actually see it for myself. The website wasn’t working. No, I didn’t read the reviews. I didn’t see the point.

Learning the Computer…

I have been putting this off for way too long, and today I thought I would try once again to learn more about working on a computer. There are free learning tools online. I went with AARP, but I soon ran into a problem. 

I needed to work on Microsoft Word and wasn’t sure if this computer had that program. So, of course I asked google a question, and ……

Same question, reworded, and again the above article came up. If it didn’t help the first time, it’s not going to help now.  

I am going to have to go to school and get it done. I was trying to save some money, but I am so OVER working for someone else’s company. There is a world out there and I want to see it. I cannot do that, if I am working paycheck to paycheck and NEVER seeing any light.

I will just have to put off my trip to a beach (Well now I want to go to Japan) and learn how to get this computer to work for me. After all, I am the ONLY one who can  STOP ME!

When I was at work yesterday, a training manager kept coming into my work area micromanaging, and I was trying to not let him bug me. I finally asked him, “What did he want,” because he couldn’t talk. He tells me what he wanted, and I am like “I am working in this tiny spot, but he wanted that spot.” I almost clocked out, but I didn’t.

That person didn’t see me and treated me like I was nothing, but I know who I am and where I am going. Head held high, Eyes are fully opened, and like the title of one of  Ms. Diana Ross’s songs. “I AM COMING OUT!” and one day I will be paying my bills my way. (I just realized that was a title from another song and “My Way,” is a Usher Raymond song title) I may not listen to that music anymore, but I still remember here and there…

Part 1: More Than a Flea Market..

Thinking outside of the box can be interesting as well as a lot of work. It has been said, “anything worth having, is worth fighting for, and working hard to set that dream free.” I know I got that quote wrong, but the meaning is still there.

When I think about selling my projects online the cost : 

  1. Website
  2. Name
  3. Packaging
  4. Shipping & Handling
  5. Credit Card payments
  6. Safe gardening yourself and your customers

Then I am wondering how I can make this more personal? I am mostly crocheting for myself, because I Really enjoy doing it. I also like to shop and there have been countless times when I saw an item, but didn’t care for the color. I would think, “too bad it’s not my size or the right color?” 

I cannot be the only one who thinks like this when they are shopping for a special event or just looking and something catches your eyes. The unexpected item is always  the best item to buy.

I was thinking about the farmers market and realized I can sell my projects at a flea market. I could also have cards made out and then people can request a personal blankets I can crochet for them.

I didn’t realize how one answer to one question has opened the door to many more questions. Then again it is best to have answers for every angle to an important question, until every question has been answered.

It never crossed my mind to use my home address when I start my business and was considering using a PO box address, but I now know a PO box address isn’t for a business.

Looking into – a virtual mailbox and a UPS mailbox for business is going to take some more time looking into. To think I got these new questions waiting to know more about selling my crochet items at a flea market.

It’s time to get back to crocheting……

~ These charts can give you an idea on what size a blanket should be. I normally make my blankets a little bigger, because I like my blankets to be with the child a little longer. Well, if I am working on a blanket for a child.

~ I was looking for a direct answer to my question, “how much should I charge for a crochet blanket,” and I got more questions than answers. Examples…….

~ I did find two websites that actually gave me a direct answer……..

~ I am not yet ready to size and price all of my projects (yet), because I am going to turn every last scrap of yarn into a project. That is my first step and it’s time to get crocheting……

A Patchwork Blanket….

Trying not to shop for yarn is harder than I thought it was going to be. Michael’s keeps sending me reminders of 40% off this week, last week was buy 1 get the 2nd ½ off, and who knows what the next sale will be?

I decided to use up all of my unused yarn both scraps and full skeins of yarn. I have one, maybe two full blankets left. In other words, crocheting whatever piece of yarn I have left. I am working on a gray & pink blanket that I am calling a “patchwork blanket.”

Video #1 : I gave up on trying to follow. Her words were clear and I was able to do two rows, but that third row was a no go for me. I will try again.

I turned the tunsian knit stitch (the pink & gray together) into a triple stitch. I was going to post a video, but after watching what an actual triple crochet stitch looks like, I realized I didn’t actually do a normal triple stitch. 

The next box was done in tiny granny squares: pink and two shades of gray..

video # 5: The dark pink square was done in this basket weave stitch and I cannot wait to do a full size blanket in this stitch. I wonder how it would look using three or more colors?

I never know how big any of my blankets will be, because I keep crocheting  until I am either done with the yarn or the pattern I am working on.  I am going to keep on crocheting as many projects I can with what yarn I have until I can start selling them.
