There’s Still More..

It seems like the longer I am crocheting, the less I have completed. 5 done – 19 to go. I am not giving. I have 6 more days to end this crazy crochet scarfs project. Time to get back to crocheting, every stitch counts..

What was I Thinking………

When asked what you could do to help out in the women’s shelter on Thanksgiving day. I was thinking maybe two or three people would like to learn, but since no one could give me an answer. I left the yarn that was donated to me for this project at home and just went in there with the thought of helping with the Christmass decorations.

I was surprised when someone asked about the amount of yarn I brought to show anyone.

Me        : “I didn’t bring any, because I couldn’t get a number count.” Member :   “Good, because no one wanted to do it.” Me : “Okay, someone gave me some yarn. I can make some scarves. How many do you think I would need to make?” Member : “Only 23” Me          : Okay

I have no idea why I thought I could crochet 23 scarves in 18 days. My co-worker said she would do one for me. I got two made and I am working on two more now. It’s December 5th, I should get back to crocheting, because December 15, will be here soon.

I don’t know if I was told this or I heard it on TV, but these words are true. Think before you speak, because I want to keep my word, but my heart may be bigger than how fast my hands can move.

P.S – Sorry, this is a little off, but I am way too tired to try to figure out how the “Me” and “Member” line up. Time to eat, crochet a few rows, and call it a night…

My New Stitch

Photo by Castorly Stock on Pexels.com

I love to crochet. There’s no surprise there. If I am sitting, most likely I am crocheting.  My favorite stitch is the granny square. Although I don’t like stitching them together. I will post a few videos from my favorite crafters that show how to crochet granny squares.
I was working on my red blanket (late last night).  I had an idea in my head, but somehow it wasn’t coming out as I thought it would. I did a few different stitches into one and will end it with a simple granny stitch until there isn’t any yarn left. Oh, this is the fourth design for these colors. I decided to not frog the last project, turning it into a few balls of yarn, and just keep crocheting.

I found a better way to start my granny square… A standing single stitch takes the small bump away.  I came up with this thought last night, because there was little light in my room. (Oh, I do not recommend crocheting with only light coming from the TV) When I got to a corner, I could barely see that third stitch, so when I turned my project around and was getting ready to make that slip stitch. I stopped. I was thinking can I do a standing crochet stitch? I was way too tired to keep thinking about this, so I just did it. I was so happy, because it worked.

** sidenote: I tried to find a video of a standing crochet stitch and there are way too many. I saved some, but they are lost in my group list as well.

I didn’t see what I did, so maybe it wasn’t a standing stitch after all. No, it was my standing stitch, and one day I will start my own YouTube channel….

My standing stitch goes like this: a single stitch, turned, another single stitch, I only pulled through one stitch, now there is two stitches on my hook, I pulled through one stitch, and now there are two stitches left, pulling through those two to make the height of a double crochet stitch.

I had to make myself stop adding some of my favorite granny squares and when I do stitch my squares together, I did Ms. Lyza Walters’ stitch.

I am so over typing about crocheting, because I really want to crochet in the daytime with enough light to see every stitch.

Rethinking how I Crochet…

Photo by Anete Lusina on Pexels.com

They say, “When one door closes, another door opens,” and I know that is true. Then again my door was always half open and half closed. I could see and imagine a happy life, but the “unknown” was preventing me from opening the door completely.

I have been crocheting for years and when some friends asked if I could teach them I said, “Yes,” and told them the items they were going to need. I was confident  I could teach them, but I was beyond wrong. The only thing I was able to teach them was how to start it and hold the needle.

I  didn’t want to give up and neither did they, but after two more days they only were able to get one row. They gave up and no matter how much I tried to encourage them,  they didn’t want to try again.

I started thinking maybe just knowing how to crochet wasn’t enough, so I put it aside and gave up on teaching. I am out of work for three weeks (due to a fall at work) and I thought it was a good idea to teach what I love and that’s crochet.

There is two websites that offer crochet certificate and I am moving closer to – https://americancrochetassociation.blog/

I can’t wait until I get some more crochet hooks and then I will be signing up.  I want to learn more and maybe one day I can teach what I have learned…….

It’s Fun to Crochet….

I enjoy crocheting and

I would talk about it all day if I could,

but there’s not too many who share my idea of fun.

I came across Charlotte Yarn.

They were having an event where

Those who

Crochet or knit

Can come together to enjoy

A few hours to create together.

I was so excited and

I wanted to take pictures

And guess who forgot…
