Time 2 Crochet…

Photo by Miriam Alonso on Pexels.com

I couldn’t think of anything to crochet, so I decided to just do granny squares. I did a few different ones, because I thought just working a regular square would be boring. I did learn doing different stitches even though you are using the same five count, the size doesn’t come out the same, and then you have to add an extra row to make up the difference.

I am going to post a few granny squares. These ladies know what they are doing, and I have learned a few new stitches from each of them. If it’s about crochet it could be on their site, so have fun looking through what they already have posted.

Joining Squares Idea in Crochet | Zigzag Slip Stitch Method | Embroidery Inspired Lyza Walters   Mar 11, 2020

I started joining my squares together as I started watching videos for my online traveling post. I may have stopped working on that post, I don’t feel like stopping crocheting, so I am going to watch one of my favorite amines and enjoy my first day off in five days. (I was trying to add the words to each video, but the words wouldn’t copy as I liked. I still don’t like computers to try to figure out how to fix it)

Time for a glass of water before I get back to having some crochet fun!!

Beyond PayCheck to PayCheck..

The idea of owning your own business sounds like a good idea, but with so much work behind that closed door – has me rethinking this new idea. I had an idea of the amount of work that goes into owning your own business and thought I looked more into it.

I have heard this more than once, “Once you start using your gift as a business, you may not want to create anymore,” but I find that hard to believe. I will always crochet if there is enough light and I am able to sit for a few minutes, how can I not crochet?

I am not going to think about that right now, because I got these two projects. I can’t wait to get started. I am  still frogging one bag full. I know I said I wasn’t going to do that again, but this time it wasn’t one of my projects. This was yarn that was given to me and this doesn’t count.

The multi-colored yarn is thicker than I normally work with and I was surprised it’s actually as soft as the simple soft yarn. I wish I knew its name, but that’s cool. I  am going to have to double the simple soft yarn together in order for it to work with this new yarn, but that’s cool.

I am not going to give up on starting my own business, because I have faith in myself to be better tomorrow then I am today. I do plan on traveling again and enjoying my life to its fullest and that means going past paycheck to paycheck..

A Gift of Yarn

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

When someone said they had some yarn and asked if I wanted it. Oh yeah, if course. I was about out of yarn and was trying to figure out a new project until I could get some yarn

She did tell me she had started a few projects, but never got around to complete them.

I was hoping to see some baby colors or even something light. I did find a few colors I liked and those I don’t really care for. I will reuse the rest and donate.

I believe this is a good way to use yarn that was given to you and I am Happy working on more than one crochet project. I really do Enjoy crocheting.

My Quest…

Photo by Wendy Wei on Pexels.com

~ It is high time I get a series about selling my crochet items. I have been putting this off and I am so over doing this to myself. I am going to restart this quest. I am also going to do this my way, learning from others, and having fun along the way.

Ready Set Goooooo………….

~ These charts can give you an idea on what size a blanket should be. I normally make my blankets a little bigger, because I like my blankets to be with the child a little longer. Well, if I am working on a blanket for a child.

~ I was looking for a direct answer to my question, “how much should I charge for a crochet blanket,” and I got more questions than answers. Examples…….

~ I did find two websites that actually gave me a direct answer……..

~ I am not yet ready to size and price all of my projects (yet), because I am going to turn every last scrap of yarn into a project. That is my first step and it’s time to get crocheting……

A Patchwork Blanket….

Photo by Erik Mclean on Pexels.com

Trying not to shop for yarn is harder than I thought it was going to be. Michael’s keeps sending me reminders of 40% off this week, last week was buy 1 get the 2nd ½ off, and who knows what the next sale will be?

I decided to use up all of my unused yarn both scraps and full skeins of yarn. I have one, maybe two full blankets left. In other words, crocheting whatever piece of yarn I have left. I am working on a gray & pink blanket that I am calling a “patchwork blanket.”

TUNISIAN KNIT STITCH CROCHET / BEGINNER  Claudetta Crochet    Jan 28, 2019 Hello Everyone, today I am going to show u how to Tunisian crochet the KNIT STITCH! Very easy and great for Beginners. Also, I will show u how to work with two colors. Used Yarn : https://www.lovecrafts.com/de-de/p/ri… {}

Video #1 : I gave up on trying to follow. Her words were clear and I was able to do two rows, but that third row was a no go for me. I will try again.

I turned the tunsian knit stitch (the pink & gray together) into a triple stitch. I was going to post a video, but after watching what an actual triple crochet stitch looks like, I realized I didn’t actually do a normal triple stitch.

The next box was done in tiny granny squares: pink and two shades of gray..

Video # 3: This was the coolest stitch. It was fun adding each granny square together, but it’s a lot of work.

The next big square is both light and dark gray

Video # 4: This is an easy stitch that could be used for almost any project. I have also made scarfs as well as full size blankets.

video # 5: The dark pink square was done in this basket weave stitch and I cannot wait to do a full size blanket in this stitch. I wonder how it would look using three or more colors?

I never know how big any of my blankets will be, because I keep crocheting  until I am either done with the yarn or the pattern I am working on.  I am going to keep on crocheting as many projects I can with what yarn I have until I can start selling them.
