I finally finished that hat and scarf set. True it wasnât to my liking, but who am I? When I finally actually got in touch with my client, she told me she had changed the colors, but she liked what I did. I wanted to say, âI texted her a few times showing pictures, all with no response, and went with what I liked.â
She actually wanted a black and yellow, but I couldnât do the bumble bee look. I saw this mixed orange color yarn and fell in love with its colors. I had to add the black to give her almost the colors she wanted.
Easy Crochet C2C Hat and Scarf | Crochet easy hat scarf set | Bag O Day Crochet Tutorial
I Love Crystal âBag-O-Day Crochetâ youtube page, because her words are easy to follow. Crocheting isnât hard and so much fun. I will be making more sets for next winterâŚ
I got a request for a hat and scarf set. I wasnât going to admit again that I wasnât good at making hats, because who in their right mind would turn down money.
Although, the colors that were chosen, which were yellow and black, had me thinking about a bumble bee, and who wanted to look like a bumble bee?
I looked up a few hats and came across a few. In this first video I actually made a hat for myself. It was easy and will be making another one. My client wants pom poms on her hat. I donât think it would work for this project.
I couldnât even think of doing this project, because of the colors. I know that sounds strange. I went back to Micheals and was so glad I didnât cash my check, because they had a lot of new color yarn. I found what I thought I was looking for, until I was walking out of the door, and saw this skein of yarn. I believe this color would be best for her hat and scarf set.
When I came across this video I knew I found the right hand for my next project.
HOW to CROCHET an EASY WINTER HAT – Simple Textured Beanie by Naztazia Nov 6, 2019
Naztazia You can learn how to Crochet an Easy Winter Hat in this DIY tutorial video. Hi Iâm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. This is a nice simple textured hat that works great for beginners. The crunch stitch, which is easy to crochet, adds a nice texture to the top part of this beanie hat. And the single crochet ribbing adds a good amount of stretch to that hat.{}
I started this hat pic # 1: pattern came out right, but I missed one stitch and was redoing it. Pic # 2: I redid it, got to the right size, but then I listened to the video again, and realized every stitch I did was wrong. I got the first one I had done two days ago and as much as I was hoping I was wrong. I knew that thought was lost, because the first one looked way better.
I am yawning, so I know I am not going to do anything beyond taking each stitch out. I will redo the hat tomorrow and try to get both hat and scarf done within a week. I will be weaving in some black, to keep my client happy, and start another projectâŚÂ
* Side Note – I redid this hat three more times, but hopefully I like the design I am working on now. I will post that, when I get it done, and I am hoping that will happen soon….
I am always looking for new crochet stitches. I have asked this question, âA three color crochet stitch,â and I have come across a few that I liked.
Side note: I came across this video. I never heard of this song before, it may not be the full version of this song, but what Ms. Hudson sang beautifully. She has an amazing voice.

Granny in the Line Up – CROCHET STRIPE BLANKET PATTERN/ The Secret Yarnery.{}
Video #1: I didnât think I was going to have enough yarn to really do this project any good. I can’t go to Micheals and get a few more skeins of yarn in at least five or more colorsâŚ
Video #3: I was having a hard time following this one. I am sure I could have done it, but I was a little too impatient to follow along. I am thinking I am not going to find a new stitch, but I am not the one to give up eitherâŚ
Video #4: I was going to go with a stitch I have done before, but this video stopped that idea. I am happy I found this new stitch. I know I donât have enough yarn to make a big blanket, but hopefully something nice. I was thinking about âa lovey crochet blanket,â which is only 18â x 18â . Only time will tell if I have enough yarn.
I kind of messed up on the light purple. There was a time when I would have taken the whole thing out, but I am done with redoing my projects. I donât think anyone else will noticeâŚ..
I said I was never going to frog (undo a few crochet stitches) ever again. I guess what they say is true, ânever say never,â but I did this at least three times on one project. I got a request for a king size blanket, no rush, I could choose the stitch, but I couldnât make up my mind.
Video #3 : https://youtu.be/XJs8Z7ZwKts ~ I did this on top of the granny square blanket I started on #2. I wish I had started with this stitch.
I didnât like either one video #2 & video #3 The stitches were pulling too tight and the lines weren’t straight. Video #1 was right, but I changed my mind on the square all together.
Well, it’s time to get back to working on my new project. I am grateful for this paying job, because yesterday I got fired. That was a first for me, but when one door closes a better one opensâŚ
The thought of working on a crochet project and getting paid for it, got me Smiling. I was happy for days. I remember years ago, just after my son was born, I started crocheting and it was pure luck that the project actually fit a king size bed. I do remember it took me over four months to make.
I wanted this project to come out right, because this time it wonât be a gift. I did my research. I got a rough idea about the amount of yarn that will be needed. I put that question out on Google and I looked on more than ten sites and the answer was always different.
The number count was between 12 and 14 skeins of yarn. Then again I also know, it depends on the yarn, and I wish she hadnât looked at the âcakeâ yarn, because it is thicker than most and will need more to complete the size.
She offered $200.00 and that sounded good, until I got to adding what it would cost to get the yarn. She even suggested I start on it now, but that was a big âNO.â (I WILL NEVER PUT MY MONEY INTO A REQUESTED PROJECT EVER AGAIN. I learned the hard way, people will take everything from you if you allow it.)
The look on my face must have said what I was thinking and before I could say anything, she said she would give me half of the money up front and the other half when it’s done. COOL!!
I agreed. I know Micheals is always having a sale and since it’s a Christmas gift I have enough time. I saw her every day when I got home from work, (and yes she has my phone number) but for some reason I am no longer seeing her.
I will not call her to ask if she still wants me to make her that blanket, because part of me no longer wants to do it. We may have agreed on a $200.00 blanket, but if it’s going to cost me more then $60.00 on the yarn I donât think so. (I know its going to take me at least two months to make) I am thinking she was just talking to be nice. I might be wrong and this is one of those times I am hoping I am.
This person may not buy a crochet project from me, but one day I will open an online store. My goal is to have a place where anyone can buy one or two of my crochet items as well as request something as well.
I am hearing an unasked question. What is a requested item? I have seen items in catalogs as well as online and I thought, âthat is a cool dress, too bad they donât have any colors I liked,â and that is how I want to add that to my page.
A Person : You know that isnât how things are done.
Me : If you are always playing âfollow the leader.â How are you going to shine?
The person whom I was talking to, had no response, and walked away from me with a confused look on their face.
