Online Traveling #9: Florida

When I think about Florida I think about DisneyLand, beaches, rain, and alligators. I know there is more to this state than these four words, but I am at a loss as to what that could be. I wonder if I am the only one with this thought?

It is a good thing my next trip online is Florida. I will have my answer and see how much more I can learn about this state. Who knows I may find that I would like to visit it in reality one day.

{} Florida US State

Description Florida is the southeasternmost U.S state, with the Atlantic on one side                                 and the Gulf of Mexico on the other. It has hundreds of miles of beaches. The city of  Miami is known for its Latin-American cultural influences and notable arts scene, as well as its nightlife, especially in upscale South Beach. Orlando is famed for theme parks, including Walt Disney World. — Google {}

10 Best Places to Visit in Florida – Travel Video  •May 12, 2021

Touropia

Check out all the places seen in this video: https://www.touropia.com/best-places-

When most people think of Florida, they think of sunshine, theme parks, orange juice and alligators. But this former Spanish colony, which became the 27th state to enter the Union, is much more than that. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, it has mile upon mile white sand beaches. Its moderate  climate makes it a popular tourist destination all year round. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Florida.{}

#1 This video spoke of pretty much what I thought Florida was hot and too many people. Some may say I worry too much, but I will be keeping my mask on when I am out in the public. I will also still not be in a crowd… Moving on….

Ten “Secret” Places in Florida – Things to see in Florida that Tourists Don’t Know About. •Sep 7, 2020

Florida With Five  It is hard to keep anything in Florida a secret, but there are some places that aren’t well known! We personally plan to visit each and every one of the spots on this list – and you better believe that we plan on taking all of you along with us. {}

#2 This video was a surprise to me, not because of the places they talked about, but because they weren’t actually there. My first thought was to click off, because I didn’t think I was going to get any information from this video. I was Wrong. I found myself wanting to visit a few of the state parks, like The Falling Water State Park seems like a cool place to visit and take beautiful pictures.

Flourish Ever After  We escaped the worst two weeks of winter and drove down to a tropical paradise – the Florida Keys! Behold – the ultimate Florida Keys travel guide is born!!! What to do and where to eat in the Florida Keys. Still dreaming of those crepes. You’ll have to watch to see where. What is your favorite thing to do in the Florida Keys?{}

#3   I only enjoy looking at the water and if I ever get on a boat it will be a big one. I did enjoy seeing the places they went and the pictures of what they were eating made me want to try something new as well.

I was thinking it would have been nice to see more pictures as they were driving to their next designation. If you like the idea of being in and around water I hope this video gave you some good ideas…..

** A Side Note:  There are a few other cities in Florida and sorry, but I am not going to go into a part 2 or 3 for this state. The picture looks nice to visit, but the heat really isn’t drawing me there. I will list a few places and it will be up to you if you want more info and if one REALLY stands out to me. I will give more info.

  1. Sarasota, Florida      – https://www.visitsarasota.com/                          https://youtu.be/dI2mmo2osog
  2. Melbourne, Florida    – https://www.melbourneflorida.org/
  3. Fort Myers, Florida – https://www.fortmyers-sanibel.com/ – If you click on this link there is a free guide of things to do before you actually go there/ if you want to go there? I liked that idea and even clicked on it myself. I also liked that people were still in masks. One can still be out and about and be safe. If I do go, it will be in the winter time.

Traveling Online 8: Delaware

#1 : I surprised myself by watching a video without sound. Then again I clicked on four videos before this one and two sounded like a robot and the others I couldn’t get past the unusual sound supposed to be someone’s voice.

Side note : I made a video or two (not on YouTube and not that long)and my voice was not as clear and didn’t sound like myself, so I got it, but there was no way I was going to enjoy a twenty minute long video if I was trying to block out their voices.. Sorry…

I opened another page and started listening to jazz as I watched this city  and working on my “Baby Blue” crochet project. I liked the building and even saw a corner store and that brought a smile. It reminded me of the time I spent in New York, where you can find almost anything in a corner store.

Three things caught my attent within this video:

  1.  Delaware Historical Society – This was a cool sign that is like a small bridge  above the city street.
  2. A building called “Queen”
  3. Another building called “ Milk & Honey” I believe is a coffee shop. About to see if I am right?

#1.1 ~ I enjoyed learning more about this state and the old time homes  and a lot of information. It is fun to learn something new….

{} https://thequeenwilmington.com/about/

VENUE’S HISTORY

All hail her royal highness, The Queen! Originally built in the 1800s, “The Indian Queen Hotel” was a popular place for traveling sailors to spend the night. From 1916-1959, the hotel was repurposed into a movie theater and brought joy to thousands of locals. Sadly, it was abandoned and sat dormant for over 50 years. With water pouring through the ceilings, the walls caving in, and the façad. e crumbling, this majestic theater had become a faded memory of Market Street’s vibrant past. However, as all good leaders do, The Queen found her way back to the throne and reopened her doors to the people on April 1st, 2011. Today, she stands as one of the most historic buildings and theaters in Wilmington, Delaware.

#1.2  ~  Isn’t a video, but highlights about this building that has a history of entertaining for years ago and brought back to life to continue with its path. If you go to The Queen’s website (above info) you can take a virtual tour of the building.

Side Note: In my younger days I could see myself going to a concert here and enjoying dancing along with others enjoying some good music. I don’t see a gospel or an artist who plays jazz performing here. Then again I could be wrong. I can see myself in a private event, something special, and to remember.

UPDATE ON LOMA COFFEE

After 10 years of operating Loma Coffee as a place to make the community feel welcome and well-served, it is bittersweet to announce that Loma Coffee has turned over the coffee shop operation to the Milk and Honey Café at Loma. Milk & Honey will begin serving its notable style of coffee and handcrafted meals to the Lower market community in early October.

Sycamore Hill Church-Wilmington will continue its partnership in this space with the purpose of remaining a neighbor and spiritual resource for the community. {}

# 1.3  ~ I was right about the building “Milk & Honey,” but it took me awhile to locate the one I saw. There are two cafe’s with this same name and I read a little of each . It got me thinking I would like to go to this café and try their coffee and enjoy a meal. (Well, if they had anything that didn’t have any meat in it, because I am still cutting that mostly out of my diet)

Side Note: So far Milk & Honey is the  only thing that I find interesting about Delaware, but this is a chain café and I do recall seeing one in Queens. My hometown in New York and Queens isn’t that far away.

I almost passed over looking at this site, because of the name. I am glad I looked at the building on  239 N. Market St, because this is the building I saw. I wonder if you could order a bag or two of coffee??

Before I go and pick up my light blue project (which is a little bigger then what is shown in this picture) I believe I will try and find one more video….

I have no interest in sports or the top college there is in Delaware. I did find two more 4K videos, but they have no sounds and I don’t feel like listening as I watch them drive around. It was nice the first time and I am sure I may see something I might like, but I was looking for more information.

Prior to Philadelphia’s prominence on the national stage, New Castle was an influential colonial town where politicians, pugilists, and commoners gathered to stake a claim in the new land. William Penn first set foot here on the new land, and the “First State” was declared here at the New Castle courthouse.

#2 I am so glad I didn’t give up on Delaware. Thanks Google:  The 10 Best Places To Live In Delaware For 2021

The word castle caught my attention first and thought why not look up NewCastle and I am glad I did. There was a nice looking building and it looked like a cool place to take long walks.

Side Note: I am beyond curious about Newark in Delaware, because I thought it was just in New Jersey.  I am going to have to go off route and and compare these two cities before I continue with my regular traveling.

Traveling Online #7: Connecticut

My next stop in Connecticut and as I was looking at a list of America’s States. There was a time when I knew them by heart. I am surprised I don’t remember them all, because of the amount of time I spent memorizing each one. Then again that was more than 30 years ago.. In this new age where one can sit at a desk where there is a computer and an answer to almost every question that can be asked….

{} Connecticut US State

Description Connecticut is a U.S. state in southern New England that has a mix of coastal cities and rural areas dotted with small towns. New Yorkers are MOVING here?:Walking Stamford, CT Downtown (1/25/ 2021)

ActionKid    I walk in the downtown area of Stamford, CT. I exit a Metro-North train at the Stamford Station, walk on South State Street, north on Atlantic Street, and then west on Broad Street to the Mill River Park. {}

#1 This video was a little sad, because after getting off of the train there wasn’t any sound or any kind of information. I came close to stop watching this video and moving on, but my list of videos was low. I did fast forward stopping when I came across something that caught my attention and hoping I could figure out what it was.

  1. The library was colorful and I liked the building…
  2. A set of trees in an open space where there were some names on a small wavy wall, across the street from a fancy Target.
  3. A nice walk way where I could imagine sitting on a bench and enjoying a book.

It still would have been nice to know what I was looking at, because I’m sure that walkway had a name. Oh well, I am hoping to have better luck with the next video, because so far I am a little bored…..

#2 Once again I started to end a video, before I was done with it, because if I cannot understand what is being said in a video it wasn’t meant for me. Then just as the pointer was inches away from the stop button, there were some kids and “yes” they spoke English.

**Side note: Please don’t take my words out of order. I believe if a person can speak more than one language and it is their history PLEASE talk and teach the next generation, so your history won’t be lost. Teach it to others so we can learn and understand each other. So, I apologize if I miss and hurt someone’s feelings.

I had to fast forward the video. I am not really a sea person, well I like an open space. There were some pretty colorful fishes and loud sea animals .

#3 No, I did not watch this whole video. I have bored myself out. I found a few other videos, but nothing worth watching I am sorry to say. I am sure Connecticut is a cool place to visit and I am just just finding a good video.

Side note: I wish I hadn’t cut the boring videos and was thinking about adding them anyway, but I didn’t want to bore anyone else. One was more information, more of a history report (on the rich & poor side of town), the others a drive through with no sound, the wind, a piano (which was nice), and some talking, and nothing worth me adding to my page.

Meg’s Adventtures  Follow along with my adventures to one of my new favorite states, Connecticut!! I literally felt like I was in a fairy tale, it was so magical. This was state number 8 on this road trip{}

#4 I was more than surprised when I came across Meg’s site and was “Happy” I even subscribbed (which I don’t normally do). I am also happy she had a safe place to stay one night, but I wouldn’t recommend staying at a  stranger’s place. Then again I am old and scary? I guess it comes from looking at the news for too long.

Well, I am going to cut my time in Connecticut and move onto my next project. I am basically avoiding working on my next book, because I don’t want to work out a major conflict between two sisters. Again another misunderstanding that could have been settled if people would just talk to each other….

 My next State will be  Delaware.  Time for a cup of coffee and back to work….

PS –

I type in Google doc and it is so NICE and then I get to my blog site and its a mess. I enjoy writing for fun, but I am thinking about giving it up, because I HATE this New Age stuff.

My first trip since COVID, Denver, Colorado, and it was a revelation.

Roberto Serrini • The Travelclast

While travel and vacationing have been put on lock down because of COVID, the idea of visiting or flying might seem unimaginable. So this trip to Denver, Colorado, the first I’ve taken anywhere since the pandemic hit, was monumental for me. What I found was that there was a beautiful city waiting to be enjoyed, as long as you enjoyed it responsibly.{}

#2  Now this video actually made me want to go and visit Denver. I also learned that there is little air here, but since I don’t walk too fast. I’m sure I can handle it. A lot of information and what to do and where to eat. Trying food in different areas is always so cool. Just wondering if it will be the same not eating meat?

We love the hustle and bustle of cities, but nature is definitely our happy place 😍🏔 {}

# 3 & 4 videos – These two videos went hand in hand and I have always LOVED road trips. One day I will go on one. I also LOVE Texas, not only because of the food, but the desert looked like it was a quiet place. I had passed through it on my way to LA, but it wasn’t long enough to enjoy it. Although, I will NEVER do this on a greyhound bus ever again.

#5  Now this video I really loved. Out in the open is good, but so is a city. I liked the walk way where you can see a waterfall and the sights were just as cool as they were answering unanswered questions. I know I DO NOT like the cold, so if I ever visit it will have to be in the summer.

Then again one could always get a heavy coat and enjoy your walk with a cup of hot tea in hand.

#4  This video has made me REAlly WANT to come and visit this place. It looked to be a peaceful place to enjoy being away from a crowd of people. I liked the idea that the hotel also had a mini fridge and since everything closes early its a good idea to make a snack run before that time.

I just wished there were a few extra masks being worn, but other than that I still want to visit…..
