As I was sitting in service this morning and following what the pastor was saying. I had to make myself move forward and listen to what was being said and not what was said. My mind didn’t wonder from the Word, but got stuck on one point of the message.
I made sure I underlined those two points, with a different color ink pen, because it will be easier to go back to it. I also like to highlight something meaningful to me or a strong point of view.
The two words that caught my attention was “hinder,” and “delay.” I couldn’t get home fast enough to further my research on each word.
My big Bible (which I read at home – a little too heavy to carry every day) “The Quest Study Bible” New International version. In the back of the book it has s concordance and that’s where I found the word “hinder.”
I was going to just list the books & chapters, but then I realize they may not be what I am talking about, so I am going to stop here –
Hinder = 1st Sam 14:6 Nothing can h the Lord
(Its funny, because I am studying the book of 1st Samuel. I am on ch12). I read what was in the back of the book and was lost, turning to the actual page I did see the word “hinder” and I agree that the Lord cannot be stopped, but the word “perhaps” I feel its saying maybe? I might be wrong?
“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer. “Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord . He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!”
1 Samuel 14:6 NLT

I am not seeing anything different and need to move forward before I get stuck here. Going back to the book it says: Matt 19:14 come to me, and do not h them
Jesus is talking about the children He knew the Word was and is for the young and young at heart. (since I am now 50 – I don’t like the word old) The year is 2019, but I feel some of the things that was a household stable like: take school clothes off as soon as you get home and into play clothes (or indoor clothes that wasn’t good enough to go out in about in), do your homework and chores. If there is time, you can go outside, but when those street lights come on ( if you lived in a city like me) be back home. On Sunday we had Sunday school and service. Once we got home and changed clothes we would talk about what we learned at the service that day. (or what you remember while you were awake. Well, if you were 5 years old)
Oops I trailed off.
But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”
Matthew 19:14 NLT

In my book it says, ” do not hinder them-
I found a few more places to find the word “hinder” online: Jobs 33:11. #22:16, Gen 23:6, 1st Cor 9:12, Job 12:18, John 6:46, Matt 10:24
are just a few chapters
Now the word “delay” I couldn’t find in my Bible. I found it online.
I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.
Psalms 119:60 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/psa.119.60.NLT – “delay = without stopping”
“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, be prompt in fulfilling whatever you promised him. For the Lord your God demands that you promptly fulfill all your vows, or you will be guilty of sin.
Deuteronomy 23:21 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/deu.23.21.NLT – the word “delay” isn’t here, but I am thinking the word “prompt” means moving fast.
But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
Luke 22:51 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/luk.22.51.NLT – once again the word “delay” isn’t here, but its meaning us “no more -”
I carry The Amplified version of the Bible and I didn’t find either word hinder or delay in it. Well, It could be it, but my Bible doesn’t have index subject or a concordance at the end of it. I am sure it is in the Bible and “no” I am not looking for it.
Someone once asked me why I had so many books and use more than one color ink? My mind cannot focus on one thing for long and different colors keeps my mind from wandering too far from whatever I am working on. Each person is different so we all have our own special way of learning. You do what’s best for you and I will do the same.
The
End!!!!
