A Long Weekend…

Photo by Quang Anh Ha Nguyen on Pexels.com

Ever been so bored you don’t know what to do? My mind is full of words and I know I should type them out, but without any energy to do it. I don’t want to even think about it.

I decided yesterday I was going to give up on coffee. It is something my doctor has been trying to get me to do for years. I am not doing this, because she thought it was a good idea.

I am doing this to see if my hand and my toes will stop going numb or this trigger finger that is hindering my time working on my crochet.

I know chocolate has a little caffeine in it, so what is a healthier version of that? This cacao powder sounds like a good idea, and who knows I might like it?

Healthy Hot Chocolate with Cacao Powder

Feb 19, 2020

From Scratch Fast

This quick homemade hot chocolate with cacao powder is made with just milk, honey, cacao powder and a touch of vanilla.  Let me assure you that it’s nearly as easy to make as a powdered mix, but it’s even more delicious and much more nutritious. It’s sweetened with just honey and is a wonderful wintertime “treat,” that’s really not a treat at all. 😉

Get the recipe here: https://fromscratchfast.com/hot-cacao/ {}

I may have added more honey, a little cinnamon, and my favorite coffee creamer in it to make it drinkable.  Then again I DO NOT LIKE hot chocolate, but I couldn’t get the headache.

I had tired hot tea. All that did was make me sleepy. I know I will have to get used to not having as much caffeine as normal. It is saturday. It is a start. I don’t know how long I can hold out.

I know it’s only coffee, and I have tried decaf. That is a NO! I don’t even feel like playing any of my games.  I am trying to focus on a project, but I am having trouble doing that. I did start three times and took it out three times. It’s going to be a long weekend.

Still I don’t feel like creating anything (I never thought I would say that unless I was sick and I am not sick) and my eyes don’t want to stay focused on the screen. I believe I will turn the music on and walk it out.

Sorry, your throw isn’t free…

**Side note – The blanket in this picture, by Daria Shevtsova. I know how to make it, but I don’t know how to keep each stitch in place. I had to redo it one time too many and got tired trying to figure it out. I got my blanket done another way. It was the biggest yarn I have ever used.

**

I got to work early one day and quickly set up a space where I could start creating. I had my gospel music playing semi loud as I worked on my latest crochet project. (not this pink & grey project)

It doesn’t surprise me anymore as someone completed my work. I am grateful for someone like my work and even more hopeful when they express how they would like to buy something I could make for them.

They are happy to tell me their ideas and if it’s within my skills I will give them part of the answer they want to hear. “Yes, I can make it for you.” I try to keep my prices as low as I can, but for some reason some are surprised at the amount. I can’t believe I even broke it down with honest words:

  1. It takes an hour and a half to and from my house. (I do not have a car and have to take at least two buses to get anywhere) That’s three hours just in travel time.
  2. Another hour to get the materials I need to complete the project.
  3. A skein of yarn costs $6.00 (before tax) and it normally takes at least two skeins to make a throw for a chair.
  4. It will take one or two weeks to complete a small project. (If its not a rush job, because I do have a job)
  5. It will cost $30.00 for one throw…

I know my price was low and reasonable. I had planned on a simple design. Although she wanted a multiple granny square throw. I had to remind her of the cost of the yarn and my time.

I also wasn’t surprised she no longer wanted the throw. If you go to any retail store the cost of a throw is around $15.00 to $30.00. You can buy a copy of a blanket or buy an original throw or none at all?

The next time she saw me, it was a friendly greeting, but no more talk about making her a throw. It’s okay, because most people don’t see the value of a homemade item beyond the amount they have to pay for it.

Plans Change…

Photo by Karolina Grabowska on Pexels.com

I normally don’t plan out my entire day, so I would have an idea what I want to do versus what I am actually going to be able to do.  I was trying to step out of my ordinary day, but plans don’t always go the way you work them out in your head or on paper (depending on how you think).

I have been walking past a storage bin at work for weeks and when it went on sale I got happy. Then I started thinking “I don’t really need this, because I already had one.” I kept on walking and then it went on sale again and I knew it was coming home with me.

I haven’t had time to take it out of the box and build it. Today was going to be my day to do just that, but old arthur “arthritis”in my right hand is screaming “NO WAY – NOT TODAY!” loud and clear. Arthur you are going to get out of my body and NEVER come back, because by His blood I am healed…

I got a new project I am still hoping I can at least start. Having a full weekend off is a treat and I don’t want to just watch anime and sip in hot lemon water. Now don’t get me wrong, I am in a realizing state right now, but I didn’t want to have a lazy weekend. Oh well it is what it is……

Starting Over….

I am Not sure when I lost track of “Me,” but somehow that is what I did. I was so proud of the 23 pounds I lost, but my doctor didn’t see it my way. I know she was explaining something important, but I was too upset to pay attention. Yes, that was beyond wrong.

That was a few days ago and I can either stay in the past or I can move on. I am looking ahead to a better me and leaving the old sad girl behind. I started a 25 push-up challenge for 30 days. I know I am a few days late, it was 25 this morning and another 25 before I have my last cup of water for today.

I have also stepped up on drinking water. Hot lemon water with a little honey, turmeric, and ginger makes drinking water a little easier. I may be cheating a little, but I am drinking more water.

I am creating more and running out of space, it’s time to get to selling my projects. I also realized a few things?

  1. I enjoy creating crochet projects..
  2. I like to make something personal for anyone who likes homemade crochet items.
  3. I am NOT ALL ABOUT $$. Yes, I would like to have a little extra spending $$ in my pocket. The thing is I know there is a person on the other side of the computer screen and why not get that person in on their special items..

I am on the hunt for another anime while I work on my next project…..

Online Traveling #20: Maryland…

Photo by Hugo Magalhaes on Pexels.com

I have been wanting to do something out of my everyday routine. It didn’t matter how many times I said I was going to do something when I got home from work. I couldn’t get past only wanting to rest, eat, and spend some time with my son.

This weekend became a lazy weekend and that was cool. I have been wanting to learn a new crochet stitch and did just that.[  Ditsy Daisy Granny Squares – Crochet Tutorial   https://youtu.be/Z4joYW3RkNs

I may have had to add an extra stitch that works best for my work, I still had fun, and I can’t wait to create more.

Sidenote:  I will talk more about my new crochet stitch at a later time. I realized I haven’t taken any time to write or watch my next state. Maryland is up. I never really thought about this state, so I have no idea what there is to do or anything about it. I guess it’s time to get some of these questions answered.

{} Maryland

Maryland is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and Delaware and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. En.wikipedia.org {}

So my first stop is: https://www.maryland.gov

What caught my attention was  “Maryland Fun for Everyone,” and here is that page: https://www.visitmaryland.org

  • This gives you some ideas on what you can do there and some fun things to do online like puzzles to nice pictures to look at.
  • The free state scavenger hunt looked like fun.

My next stop in Maryland was Ocean Pine and the video I watched https://youtu.be/pDhsLyMpP2k   Ocean City Maryland Walking the Beach Boardwalk July 2021.  Was so boring that I really don’t want to look for another video, but that wouldn’t be right.

I only saw more places on the beach, which had too many people (without mask on mind you SMH) and houses for sale. So, I guess I am moving on after all. I was told there wasn’t anything interesting in Maryland, but that can’t be true.

For some reason I found a lot of the best places to live and places not to go. I was ready to call it quits until I came across a 4K video. Like other videos from 4K they are just driving and you are watching from a car’s point of view. If I see something that catches my attention. I would rewide to get a name and go from there.

#1 This looked to be a nice quiet place to live. There were a few buildings that caught my attention, but I couldn’t see what the buildings were.

The next video started before I could stop it. The music is nice and since it is in another part of Maryland I am watching it.

#2 –  I am really enjoying this video.

I would like to say I am going to hunt for more videos, but since my tummy is yelling at me. I can only focus on what I am going to eat, so I am cutting my time in Maryland short. There could be something fun to do or some interesting to learn, but I am going to cut my search short for now. Only time will tell if I come back here, Now that I am thinking about it, I don’t think I will.

I want to create more creative granny squares and continue to relax for the rest of this snow day.
